The HP Alliance asks that every Harry Potter fan wake up the UN Security Council to ending the genocide in Darfur, the way Dumbledore’s Army woke the Ministry of Magic up to Voldemort’s return.
The International Criminal Court (i.e. the Wizengamut) has a chief prosecutor who is working like Kingsley Shacklebolt for change from the inside. He has collected a tremendous amount of evidence linking two major Sudanese officials to engineering the killing of innocent civilians in Darfur. But the UN Security Council continues to act like Cornelius Fudge and the Ministry of Magic…doing nothing to turn these indictments into arrests. As a Dumbledore’s Army for the real world, it’s our job to wake up the UN Security Council to vote to arrest these real world Death Eaters who are responsible for war crimes.
As we recognize the 14th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide, the time is now for us to proclaim “Never Again.” Never Again can we sit and watch people get away with killing the innocent and unarmed.
The UN Security Council needs to hear from you before they vote in June! Please add your voice to a chorus of voices from all over the world to arrest two war criminals who think they have gotten away with murder. As a Dumbledore’s Army for the real world honoring JK Rowling’s vocal support for the children of Darfur, we in the HP Alliance must act now! Our goal is get 5000 signatures in the coming weeks. Please sign today!

It has now been over a year since the ICC issued arrest warrants for Ahmad Harun and Ali Kushayb. Both men are each wanted for over 40 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur. Instead of being arrested Ahmad Harun remains State Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and was appointed to co-chair a commission investigating human rights abuses, including those committed in Darfur. Thus a suspected perpetrator is now in charge of feeding his own suspected victims and investigating suspected international crimes in Darfur. It is now clear that the Government of Sudan has no intention of investigating crimes against humanity in Darfur. Furthermore, war crimes continue to be committed, the Government continues to obstruct UNAMID peacekeepers and continues to hinder the world's humanitarian efforts in Darfur. The Security Council referred the case of Darfur to the ICC in order to uphold international law. The effort to build a system of international justice is jeopardised by Sudan's defiance. I urge you to call for a special visit to Khartoum by the UN Security Council as soon as possible to demand that the suspects are handed over and to impose targeted sanctions on those Government officials who are hiding Ahmad Harun and Ali Koshayb, and those who continue to commit war crimes in Darfur. Will you do this? I look forward to hearing back from you. Yes please -- I would like to receive more information/actions about war criminals No thank you -- just send this email please = Required
* The ICC has issued arrest warrants for these two men. They are, of course, innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Neither the URL of this website nor any content therein should be taken to imply otherwise.
